For those who have not experienced a cold cut saw, using this tool will change your entire metal working experience. Most all my projects contain odd angles and this saw enables me to get perfect angles and fits to where I can TIG with no filler. I wish Evolution’s implementation of this saw was more industrial. For example, clamping a piece to the left fence only (when you need to only take small amounts off a piece) causes the fence to bend back. Even with moderate pressure from the clamp (an amount of force that would be tolerable by a finger in the clamp) causes the fence to deflect. This issue is less pronounced on the right fence, but still present. Why not just make this rigid? After using this for about 7 days, the surface of the saw is already showing signs of wear. I am typically breaking down square and rectangular tubing so make a cut, slide the tube down, then cut again. I have done this for years in my bandsaw and the cast iron top on it looks like the day it was new. Not so much on the evolution saw. Hopefully it holds up. Lastly, there is considerable chatter during cuts. Even with moderate cuts of .065 and .083 square tube or thicker 1/4 plate, there is always chatter. I have tried various downforce while cutting, nothing seems to make a difference. While it hasn’t effected my few cuts so far, I’m anxious to see what it does on 4”x4” tube. I’m very concerned about the fences flexing and the durability of the machine in general over time, but as of now it is a must have for fabricators.
