I read multiple reviews before purchasing the Evolution Rage 3DB after my Macallister started smoking just after I was finishing a right 45° bevel on 170mm skirting board. I am a DIYer but thought I'd treat myself to a more superior machine as the accuracy of the Macallister wasn't perfect. Unpacked the Evolution and set it up on my Evolution mitre stand (which everyone should have their mitre saws sitting on). I placed my skirting on right 45° to carry on where I had left off only to find the blade guard was catching the wood and digging into it like a chisel and stopping the saw sliding along the skirting without dragging the wood along. In my frustration I abandoned the job and compared my cheaper Macallister to the Evolution and found the bottom edge of the guard to be razor sharp but the Macallister had small rubber guide rollers. I emailed technical support and was told nobody had complained about this problem for the 10 years the Rage 3DB has been on the market and if I wasn't happy I should return the product or stick some masking tape to the bottom of the guard. Not really a reply I was looking for as I had read online there may have been an issue with the guard mechanism that may have been linked to the problem. I suspect it to possibly just be a design flaw though looking at other mitre saws online not all of them seem to have these rollers. All in all, looks like a good machine but being a double bevel and one of the more expensive models I was expecting more and especially more from technical support.

Having bought the evolution power unit and pressure washer, when initially building it up straight from the box, found that when tightening up the rubber feet onto the stand, the weld holding the cap with the bolt thread snapped completely off due to totally insufficient tack welds holding it in place. Upon further inspection found that the whole frame is welded in an unacceptable manner. Although I have not as yet ran the washer, feel that when I do it will probably cause further damage and cracking to existing welding, hence only 3 stars from me, at present.

I purchased the rage DB sliding mitre saw and from the box could see the saw is well made. Upon inspection the blade had two teeth missing which I would suggest did not happen in transit. I do not want to return the whole saw as suggested by Amazon so will have to just use it with the damaged blade. Apart from that I have used the saw a few times and am pleased with the performance and had it not been for the damaged blade would have given it five stars al be it only being used a few times. I only cut wood with the saw and do not intend to cut metal. I bought the stand as well and again am pleased with the build quality and function. So much so I have been looking at other Evolution products but am off put due to the blade issue.

First time I have ever bought a mitre saw bought it from Screwfix and the staff were excellent. It is the least expensive in the range and it does a basic job however, there are a few things which I thought let the machine down: it is not supplied with a dust bag, which is annoying, but more importantly it does not have a handle to give a good grip when changing the angle of the cut which makes it quite difficult to get precision. Apart from the irritating little problems the machine appears to do a reasonable job for the price. I have only been using the machine for a few days so cannot comment on reliability yet. So far generally pleased with the purchase.

I have NOT any experience of using the machine, a concrete cut off wheel yet. I would like to use a continuous diamond 303mm wheel but you don't appear to have one on your web site. (if you do have a large wheel like this, would it need a type B arbour?) The reason for this is so that I can also cut thin large tiles without cracking them, -that is in addition to the supplied segmented diamond cutter for concrete cutting. It would appear that a "Henry" type vacuum cleaner at least fits the dust extraction pipe, but I do not yet know how effective this is likely to be yet.

Mitre/slide Saw 3-S Whilst the tool is powerful and reasonably well put together, what stops me from giving a better score is that I had to purchase the dust bag and repeat stops, separately when they should come as standard on every model. Having said that, the bag is useless because very little of the sawdust created actually goes into the bag. Also, there seems to be no way of locking the repeat stops onto the base of the saw or the separate stand, which makes these stops useless as they would always have a tendency of moving out of the desired position. The Blade guard wobbles and should really stay in position until the saw is completely lowered (which it doesn't), in order to reduce the risk of an accident.

The price is acceptable for a entry level mitre saw.

this saw was purchased to do a specific job, fitting skirting boards in a conservatory. I didn't have time to get to grips with the handling features of the saw in great detail. what I didn't see initially was a slight flexing in the sliding bars which resulted in not so perfect 45degree side cuts once the reason for the problem was identified I cut perfect compound cuts.i would recommend that time is taken out to practice all the different applications and cuts before going live. it will save you wasting wood. good value though
